A KIRKWOOD STORY

HISTORY

Kirkwood is known for upholding its historic charm, with its tree lined streets and Victorian and Craftsman homes. Kirkwood is a neighbor-oriented community with many parks and annual neighborhood events such as the Annual Spring Fling and Kirkwood Wine Crawl. Originally developed in 1870, Kirkwood was first known as a beautiful suburb of Atlanta. Kirkwood is one of the early streetcar suburbs and had express service to and from Atlanta daily. Kirkwood was incorporated in 1899 and annexed by the city of Atlanta in 1922.
